Open Position: Major Gifts Officer (Full-time, Exempt)

The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for nurturing and growing relationships with existing donors and cultivating new listeners. The major gifts officer will build relationships with those who have a financial as well as an emotional investment in STAR 93.3. The major gifts officer must have the ability to understand and relate with donors and to clearly communicate the mission of STAR 93.3. As a Major Gifts professional, you will work directly with large gift donors, the Director of Donor Services, with the Donor Services team, and with a volunteer events team.  

Essential Skills:

  • Proven history of working within a non-profit organization as a major gifts officer. 
  • Skilled in being a self-starter and driven by results. 
  • Experience in building and cultivating relationships. 
  • Must be comfortable using a donor database, CRM software, prospect research and other wealth screening tools to provide usable data to cultivate large gift donors.  
  • Must be experienced in providing data for weekly reporting and accountability. 
  • Have established and maintained good working relationships with previous employers, donors, coworkers and volunteers. 
  • Must be skilled in clear and effective writing and speaking skills that will be used to encourage STAR 93.3 partners into action. (Asks.) 
  • Experience with the expectation to be organized, prepared, detail-oriented and to follow through on promises, individual and team projects and fundraising campaigns. 
  • Must be determined yet flexible, to pursue and to inspire listeners to give and to become further invested in the STAR 93.3 giving community. 
  • Support donor events and the event team as they create meaningful touchpoint experiences. 
  • Support and assist the donor services team during on air fundraisers.  
  • Assist in implementing and executing capital, operations, and special project campaigns. 
  • Ability and passion to integrate your faith in Christ into your role as a major gifts officer with STAR 93.3.  


Requirements:

  • 5 years or more of fundraising experience as a major gifts officer. 
  • Proven record of raising $500,000 + per campaign.  
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as within a team.  
  • Proven history of managing a team of coworkers or volunteers. 
  • Proven track record of results and solid knowledge of philanthropy and all methods of fundraising. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English. 
  • Must be computer literate with a working knowledge of a fundraising database or other donor database tracking software, web-based research tools, Outlook, Excel and Microsoft Word.  
  • Ability to use computer equipment: monitor, keyboard, mouse and other computer-related peripherals.  
  • Must pass applicable pre-employment screening.  
  • Must demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States.  


Supervisory Responsibilities:

Managing and coordinating a team of volunteers and others at STAR 93.3 events.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly to talk, hear, walk, and sit for extended periods, to travel, and to occasionally stand, and to reach overhead with arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. The ability to drive an automobile during the day and night, and frequent travel as necessary.An intentional team building culture.  

  • The work environment is estimated to be performed about 60% of the time in an office, but touchpoints, face to face meetings, fundraising events and training seminars may take place in a wide range of venues.
