Why Christmas Music Already?

Christmas music has started on STAR 93.3! But why all-Christmas music and why so early?

For us, it’s simple. We believe Christmas is the most joyful time of the year!  It’s all about celebrating the birth of Jesus…the biggest event in human history…and the one that our entire faith is built upon! We don’t think it’s ever too early to celebrate that!

Even though the music is different from what we normally play, the message is still the same. God loves you and has a plan for your life and He desires a relationship with you! He loves you so much, that he sent his Son, Jesus, to die for you.  We want EVERYONE in the Tri-State area to hear that good news! We believe it’s a celebration! Why would we limit a celebration THIS big to just a few weeks? Besides, I’m not sure it’s written anywhere that Christmas music can only start after Thanksgiving?

While we are talking about Thanksgiving, are we just skipping right over Thanksgiving? We believe it’s just the opposite. We’re never more thankful than we are during this time of year. After all, the holiday season includes Thanksgiving. You will hear many stories of thanksgiving during this time as we, and many of our listeners reflect on the blessings of the past year.  Plus, there’s not really such a thing as “Thanksgiving music”…is there?

I heard from one listener a couple of years ago who was thankful for our Christmas music starting so early in November.  She said “once Thanksgiving hits, it’s crazy. The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas can feel stressful and rushed. By starting your Christmas programming before Thanksgiving it actually gives me time to enjoy the season and reflect on the real meaning of the season before the craziness hits!”

Speaking of music, the fact is, Christmas music is one of the few types of music that is almost universal. Not everyone listens to Christian music. Nor does everyone listen to country, rock, or pop music.  However, Christmas music is different in the fact that almost everyone grew up at one time or another listening to Christmas music. It’s familiar to almost everyone!

Because of that fact, when we play Christmas music on STAR 93.3, we have many new people tuning in.  Some for the very first time! If you are a first-time listener, WELCOME!

Now, it’s true that other radio stations play Christmas music. What’s different about the Christmas programming on STAR 93.3 is what is in between the songs. A message about the true meaning of the season… a message of God’s Hope and Love!

We hope you enjoy the message on STAR 93.3 so much that you’ll decide to listen after the Christmas season. Each January we do the “STAR 93.3 30-Day Challenge.” This is where we encourage you to listen exclusively to STAR 93.3 for 30 days in a row.  We believe you will notice a difference in yourself…in your mood and in your outlook. We hope you’ll join us!

Would you do me a favor?  Would you pray for STAR 93.3?  Would you also be in prayer for new listeners who will tune in this holiday season? Also, please share this radio station with your friends, family, and co-workers. You never know who may be touched by what they hear!

Wishing you all of God’s blessings this Christmas season!
